The environment is now HOT TOPIC within the UK and Addison Ousebank are doing something about it...

Most of the replacement windows and doors now involve the removal of old PVCu frames. 

All PVCu frames (including coloured and woodgrain) which are removed are 97.5% fully recyclable. 

Many double glazing firms just send the frames to Landfill - but not Addison Ousebank. 

All old PVCu windows, doors and conservatories taken out, by Addison Ousebank, are put in special recycling bins at our factory. 

When full these bins are then collected and send to be recycled by Veka Recycling based near London in the UK.

The initial recycling is carried out in the UK with the remaining processes carried out in Germany.

The process involves the removal of reinforcing steel, screws, handles and glazing gaskets using machines.

The metals are then sent to be recycled back into steel or aluminium and the PVCu is washed, and ground into pellets (as shown above).

The pellets are then graded and can be re-used as either new PVCu frames or used in other plastic manufacturer.

The PVCu retrieved is 100% pure and can be used for new profile production without any loss of quality.

The Veka Recycling plant in Germany has been recycling since 1993 and has created a raw material cycle that combines economic with ecological soundness.

Veka Recycling in Germany processes 50,000 tons of PVCu each year.
