IF YOU THINK YOUR HOME IS SAFE, just because the door is locked, then think again.
If you have got doors with a multi-point locking system, your door is locked, but the system is only as efficient as your lock cylinder.
Lock cylinders are under threat by thieves with new techniques know as 'Lock Bumping' and 'Lock Snapping'.

Lock bumping can be used on many locks fitted during the last 20 years. The method involves the use of special keys knocked into the lock cylinder 'bumping' the pins to gain entry with no sign of forced entry* (see notes below regarding this).

Lock snapping is a means of attacking the lock cylinder itself to force entry. Using various methods.

Addison Ousebank have been aware of the lock snapping for some time and have addressed this threat by supplying all our customer with anti-drill cylinders and stainless steel reinforced handle cover plates to all doors.
But lock bumping is relatively new and whilst we do not want to scare people we feel this important message should be told. |
